Food for the soul.

What I notice more and more is this: words have power.  We all know that mean-spirited words can wound.  That careless generalizations and prejudices can pull people down and apart.  But the flip side is: words can heal.  Words can uplift.  Words can mend broken spirits over time.   What you say matters.   To the clerk in the store.  To the car in front of you.  To your partner in your mind and out loud and to yourself all the time.  Words matter.

What kinds of words populate your conversation?  How do your words lift and inspire?  How often do you speak and see the other person light up?  How often do you listen to your own thoughts and smile?  In a very real way, words are food for your soul.   Feed yourself and others well.
