Sometimes it's just a matter of waiting for the sun to come up. We don't know how, but we trust it's going to happen. And when it does somehow it comforts those who have endured a dark night of the soul. It is the faith in a better day, a new chance, another path revealed that we could not see the night before that we cling too.
Having faith that there are good things at work we do not know about and do not control can sometimes feel like stepping off a cliff. Belief in the good is important. How do I know it will be good? I don't. That is the faith part. That is the manufacturing optimism part. And on some very dark and lonely nights, that can be the hardest part. When our friends are too busy, our clients dissatisfied and our body seems to betray us, it's so easy to slide into depression, all too easy to assume the worst. But if we simply light a candle in our minds and wait out the storm of thoughts, events, and traumas, there will be a new dawn. There will be a new way revealed. And after all is said and done, it will be better than what we had planned. On this I do count. Every time.
